Case Study - Boiler Project
PHARMACEUTICAL GAS-FIRED BOILER PROJECT
C&I Installation | Siemens PCS 7 | SIS Integration | ATEX | Safety & Engineering Optimisation
A pharmaceutical client appointed the project team to deliver the Electrical & Instrumentation (C&I), control system and safety system elements of a new gas-fired boiler installation within a live and highly regulated manufacturing environment.
The project required a combination of specialist engineering, panel design and fabrication, hazardous-area installation, multidiscipline coordination and responsive site management. The technical solution incorporated:
- Design, fabrication and testing of a Siemens PCS 7 Remote I/O panel
- Redesign of the existing SIS panel to integrate the new boiler system
- ATEX-compliant C&I installation, including appropriate cable glanding and termination
- Detailed coordination of field instrumentation, control and safety interfaces
- Close management of multidiscipline installation activities
- Dynamic planning to accommodate changes in design and project priorities
Key outcomes included:
? Engineering Optimisation
? Control System Integration
? SIS Integration
? ATEX Compliance
? Programme Resilience
? Multidiscipline Coordination
? Safety Performance
By challenging the original safety design, managing interfaces proactively and adapting the installation strategy to changing circumstances the project team delivered a solution that was safe, integrated, maintainable and commercially efficient while minimising disruption to the client's programme.
